2021 Season Update

Broadway Theatre League of Utica is still offering exciting events along with opening applications to their student programs.

March 3, 2021

One year ago, Broadway Theatre League of Utica unknowingly presented its last show of the 2019-2020 season, CATS back in March of 2020 at the historic Stanley Theatre. While the theatre remained dark as the live arts industry was on pause, Broadway Utica was invited into homes through virtual performances, welcomed over 40+ students into our Bernadette Eichler Youth Ambassador Program, launched a podcast, started a merchandise line along with silent auctions and much more. We have welcomed dozens of new subscribers that are anxiously waiting to witness live productions along with hearing from our current subscribers and their excitement to get back into their seats. Ultimately this pandemic allowed us to grow as an organization, pivot into new areas of business and gave us time, time to pause and reflect on the importance of the smaller things.  Such as, dinner before a show, greeting an old friend during intermission or being in a room with others that have that same passion and love for the theatre as they do.

Unfortunately, the effect of Covid-19 is still with us today and we are coming to terms with the fact that we will not be permitted to present a 2020-2021 season to you. With the continued support of Broadway Utica’s Board, staff and dedicated theatre goers, we look forward to the curtain rising soon. As we continue to receive information from government officials, CDC guidelines and Broadway touring producers, all scheduled performances have been moved over in to the 2021-2022 season. The new dates for each of the productions that were scheduled to perform this season will be announced later this spring.   All previous subscription payments will be honored for the 2021-2022 season including seat locations. If you are interested in joining our league, become a subscriber today. Additional information can be found at www.BroadwayUtica.org  or by calling 315-624-9444.

This time has reminded us that we all truly illuminate this community together.

Broadway Theatre League of Utica’s mission statement is to present, produce and promote the highest standards of excellence in a variety of family-orientated, multi-generational and sophisticated theatrical productions; to expose the community to the many benefits of live theatre and the performing arts; to provide opportunities for the youth of the community to experience these benefits as well. “When live theatre went dark, we found new and innovative ways to spread our mission. Not being allowed to present an event to this community never crossed our minds at Broadway Utica, we understood that we just needed to get creative. Everyone here learned the new world of virtual events and master classes along with our audience. We also continued to work with all the students enrolled in the Bernadette Eichler Youth Ambassador Program, with monthly virtual meetings, writing review for online musicals and volunteering for several socially distanced events.  Although a huge part of what we do was missing, we knew we still had to provide to our community. We are excited to get back to what we do best and that is presenting Broadway to this community and beyond. We are also excited for all the new avenues Broadway Utica has established and will continue to expand in those areas. Here at Broadway Utica, we are all ecstatic to present our 2021-2022 season with the same great titles, just one year later.” Danielle Padula, Executive Director.
