Character Development & Acting & Audition for the Musical

MASTER CLASS WITH DENNIS J. CLARK ON FRIDAY, NOVEBER 10TH!

9am-12pm Character Development & Acting: $49

Exercises and activities will teach participants the best way to approach their script whether it is for scene-work or monologues.
Answering the question: Where does character information come from and how do we apply it to the material we are working on?
A combination of character development techniques and script work will follow in the later part of the session.

12pm - 3:00pm Audition for the Musical: $49
What makes a great audition?  What are they thinking behind the casting table? How do we approach the audition process and what is our preparation for that process? How to make the most out of your audition.
There will be a discussion on audition preparation, and what you should know before ever entering the room followed by mock auditions and a practice and feedback on the process and your material.
If the participant has any audition material (songs and/or monologues) they should bring them to the workshop for the performance exercises.

Total to participate in both: $85

Please note this event is taken place on Veteran's Day when school is not in session. Classes are designed for ages 13+ including adults.

ABOUT: Dennis J. Clark is currently an adjunct at Utica University in the Theater Department,  teaches dance and voice at Rise Performing Arts and directs and choreographs locally and all over the country.  He also serves as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for Fort Salem Theatre Co.  Previously Dennis was the first full time Artistic Director of the Ritz Theater in Sheffield, AL.  He has also taught and directed shows for the Walnut Hill School For the Arts and Stagedoor Manor.  Dennis is a graduate of SUNY Geneseo with degrees in Music and Musical Theater.  As a director and choreographer he has been involved with productions across the U.S. including The Great American Trailer Park Musical (Cornwells) Company, I Love You Because (Utica University), Bright Star (Fort Salem Theater), Rounding Third (Players of Utica), John and Jen, West Side Story, Sylvia (Ritz Theater), Ruthless! and Heathers (The Starlite Room), Oklahoma!
