All Aboard the Polar Express

Broadway Theatre League of Utica, through its educational UticaWorx program, is thrilled to present a magical holiday experience for our youngest audiences! Join us on either day offered at either the historic Stanley Theatre or Rome Capitol Theatre for a special screening of the beloved classic film, The Polar Express.

This event is available at no charge to students in grades K-5 (chaperones are free too). To enhance the festive atmosphere, we encourage all students to wear their cozy pajamas—just like the characters in the movie!

About the Film

Based on the timeless children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg, The Polar Express is an enchanting story of belief, friendship, and the magic of the holiday season. The movie follows a young boy who boards a mysterious train on Christmas Eve, embarking on a journey to the North Pole that changes his perspective on life and the power of believing.

With its stunning visuals, unforgettable music, and heartwarming message, this film offers more than just holiday cheer—it teaches valuable lessons about trust, courage, and kindness.

Why Theatre Matters

This special event is more than just a movie screening. It’s an opportunity for children to experience the magic of a grand theatre, immersing them in an environment that fosters creativity, wonder, and inspiration. Attending events like this at The Stanley Theatre helps introduce young audiences to the arts, creating early connections to cultural experiences that will shape their appreciation for the performing arts throughout their lives.

The theatre setting also transforms this classic film into an immersive, larger-than-life experience. For many children, this may be their first time in a professional theatre, and we are proud to spark their imaginations in such a memorable way.
