Celebrating the 2024–2025 Linda Leogrande Scholarship Recipients
Broadway Utica is proud to carry on a tradition that celebrates not only the arts, but also the people who help make them thrive. The Linda Leogrande Scholarship, named in memory of a woman who gave over 30 years of service to our organization, is awarded annually to Youth Ambassadors who embody her legacy — kindness, dedication, and an unwavering love for the arts.
This year, we’re thrilled to announce that two outstanding students have been selected as the 2024–2025 Linda Leogrande Scholarship recipients: Grace Ruganis and Callum Torruella. Both have been part of the Youth Ambassador Program for at least two consecutive seasons, showing leadership, enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to the Broadway Utica community.
Linda Leogrande served on the Broadway Theatre League Board of Directors for over three decades. Her impact was not only organizational but deeply personal — she was the kind of person who made everyone feel seen, welcomed, and inspired. Her legacy continues to shine through the young people we support with this scholarship.
“Linda was the heart of our organization for so many years. Her memory continues to guide us in the most beautiful ways,” said Kristen Matteson, Program Director at Broadway Utica. “Through this scholarship, we’re able to celebrate everything she stood for — generosity, kindness, and a passion for the arts — and pass it on to the young people following in her footsteps.”
We are deeply grateful to Lou Leogrande, Linda’s husband, whose generosity as the primary benefactor makes this award possible year after year. We also thank all those who contribute to the Linda Leogrande Scholarship Fund through our partnership with the Community Foundation.
Together, we are investing in the next generation of artists, dreamers, and creative thinkers.
