Summer’s songs continually rose to the top of the charts and shattered record sales. Now, the “Queen of Disco” arrives at The Stanley Theatre in Utica on November 23rd for Broadway Utica’s captivating premier of Summer: The Donna Summer Musical.

Directed by the renowned Des McAnuff and choreographed by Olivier Award winner Sergio Trujillo (Memphis, Jersey Boys), the show’s music is under the supervision of Ron Melrose.

Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, arrived on Broadway after its twice-extended, sold-out run at La Jolla Playhouse in late 2017. After 27 previews and 288 performances this electric tribute is strutting its way across stages in North America for its national tour. Adoring crowds will take to the aisles to dance to the disco beats of more than 20 of Summer’s musical hits, including “Love to Love You, Baby,” “Hot Stuff,” and “MacArthur Park.”

Entertainment Weekly raves, “The audience reaches a fever pitch. If you’re looking for hot stuff on Broadway, you’ve come to the right place.  SUMMER delivers the seasonal sunshine- with toe-tappingly familiar songs, stellar performances, shiny costumes, and a reminder of the impact of its subject on the music industry at large.  All deliver vocal performances that made me sit back in my seat and mouth ‘whoa!'”

Featuring stunning choreography, SUMMER takes us through her life as a young girl from Boston who shot through the stars from gospel choir to dance floor diva. But what the world didn’t know was how Donna Summer risked it all to rise to the top of the industry and become the icon of an era. Her music served as the inspiration for countless musical divas who followed in her footsteps.

Three actresses play the role of Summer at different points in her life as “Diva Donna,” “Disco Donna” and “Duckling Donna,” while an explosive ensemble heats up the stage. This unforgettable and moving tribute brings the memories of the 70s disco days back to life again.
